Lighting design and operation
Indoor stage in collaboration with Pablo Garduño
Outdoor stage designed by Ella Pavel with lights created in collaboration with Yalla Knit
hereandthere celebrated its first anniversary with a 24 hour party in a warehouse in Lihovar. There were two stages, one inside the warehouse that functioned during the night, and another that was active from the morning until evening.
The original location fell through three days before the event, so we decided to host the party in Lihovar at the last hour. Although I had worked in this space before, it was a big challenge to come up with an entirely new stage design within a day. For this reason we decided to create a plan that was simple yet effective, focusing on highlighting the features of the space that were already present.
The lighting in the indoor stage attempted to bring attention to the industrial space which was fitting with the techno music that was played there throughout the night. A few more playful elements were added to give the design a bit of personality.
Inspiration: warm vs cold, industrial, slightly playful, warehouse space.
Materials: par 56, crazy 8, strobe, moving heads, fog.
The bar was situated outside of the warehouse. A tarp held up by scaffolding towers was used to cover the area from sun and rain. I used several filtered mining lamps (courtesy of Ankali) to light the area.
The second stage that functioned during the day was more trance/house oriented music. Because of the shortage of time, I decided to use the already existing Crochet Lights to light up and decorate the space.
